Muguet Still Life Original Watercolor Painting - 8" x 11" - deckle edge cotton paper
Elegant meets rustic in this original watercolor and pencil illustration by Boston artist Darya Karenski.
The Magic
This lily of the valley painting is created on deliciously textured handmade cream deckle edge cotton paper with artist grade pigments, complemented with pencil line work in soft, romantic colors.
The Story
Muguet, the French for lily-of-the-valley, is one of the most fragrant flowers, charmingly delicate in its fragility. Planted in a terracotta clay pot, it's a perfect centerpiece for a rustic still life with green glass corked bottles and a vintage frame bird illustration.
I love beautiful objects like vases, frames and antiques, the craftsmanship fascinates me. My studio and home are full of "objets du jour" - objects of the day, they inspire me and I always keep my eyes open while shopping and/or thrifting. Hence, still lifes are one of my favorite subjects to paint!
Framing suggestion
Deckle edge adds unique rustic charm to the artwork. You can put the painting in a larger frame with a sheet of color paper underneath thus highlighting the unique edge, or frame to size for a crisp look.
