About the design

  • This artwork features hand-painted watercolor plants native to New England, my home of 15 years. Inspiration was taken from walking through the seasons at Garden In The Woods - a Native Plant Trust property in Framingham, MA - and/or plants purchased from their plant shop,  now growing in the artist’s garden!
  • For the past few years, I have been working at the NPT visitor center part time, sharing my passion for nature and education with like-minded people. Learn more about Native Plant Trust in my blog post.
  • Featured plants include: wild bergamot, butterfly weed, red trillium, amsonia, cardinal flower, hairy penstemon, wild blue phlox and more.
  • Hand-painted in watercolor and complemented by an elegant script font with Latin botanical names of the plants according to binomial nomenclature, for example: Asclepias tuberosa - butterfly weed (orange milkweed).
  • The original paintings have been acquired by Native Plant Trust and are now displayed in the Education Center!

How it's done

  • These eco friendly cloth napkins are made in the USA from start to finish: I paint the designs on paper using traditional materials, such as watercolor and ink, and then turn them into repeating patterns;
  • A sustainable US textile factory prints them on exquisite linen-cotton which I selected for you for its subtle texture and elegant rustic look;
  • I then sew these reusable napkins in my studio in Boston suburbs in small batches, carefully package and mail them to you!

Timing: All napkins are hand crafted to order in the USA - please allow up to 5 business days for production (does not include time in transit). We appreciate your patience!

Care: machine washable in warm water, tumble dry and iron safe. Minor shrinkage is possible. Ironing is not required, but recommended to keep the flat and crisp look. Using an ironing spray (like Mary Ellen's Best Press) or just water helps with smoothing out the fabric after washing.
