Original watercolor pink chrysanthemum painted on slightly textured or "toothy" acid-free watercolor paper with artist grade pigments. 

The Story

Chrysanthemum is one of the most astonishing flowers in terms of variety of shapes and colors. Called "mums" in the US, they are sold as disposable seasonal flowers at large container stores. I plant them in my garden after bloom season and enjoy these sturdy, beautiful and fragrant flowers fore many more seasons! For me, chrysanthemums are a symbol of resilience (they bloom long into November up to some mild frosts), they inspire me with the complexity and abundance of their flower heads.

The Rural Living collection is inspired by slow living in the countryside wherever that might be. For me it's a combination of childhood memories of spending summers at my grandma's cottage and my current rural New England residence. 

The Magic

Painted in a loose gestural technique - the seeming ease is very hard to accomplish and demonstrates skill and experience. This approach is inspired by millennia old Chinese brush painting and calligraphy.

The painting measures 5.5" x 8.5" (14 x 21.5 cm) and will be mailed sealed in a cello sleeve (for moisture protection) with padding in a rigid envelope.

All artwork ships from Massachusetts, USA within 2 business days. Delivery time varies depending on the destination.

Frame is not included. Storing in direct sunlight is not recommended (like any original artwork).
